Bianca Villella #RUN4ERC
Story
So, I'm taking part in the 2014 Melbourne Marathon Festival and hoping to raise much needed funds for a super great cause.
In early October, I’m going to be sweating it out and doing my best to complete a gruelling course through the streets of Melbourne and ending back at the world famous 'G' as part of the Melbourne Marathon.
I am running 5km (which, believe me, will be an achievement as I ain't blessed with running genes!) to raise money for the lovely, resilient, generous and strong asylum seeker families that I work with. At the moment those I work with are living in community detention and do not know if and when they will be able to apply for Australia protection. The money that will be raised from the run will be put towards sending the families on a fun, therapeutic weekend away with Edmund Rice Camps.
The families I work with every day rock my world and totally deserve a break - please help me raise money so they can experience a wonderful Eddie Rice camp!
If you are keen, you can make a tax deductable donation towards my cause and support Edmund Rice Camps. ERC have been organising breaks for vulnerable children and families for the past 30 years. I myself have volunteered on the camps and know how fabulous they are and how significant the experience can be for participants. Thank you for your support!!
Activity
Edmund Rice Camps Inc
Edmund Rice Camps is a not for profit charity based in Melbourne.
We connect young volunteers (or young at heart!), to kids and families living in disadvantaged situations. We use residential camps and recreational activities to create opportunities for role modeling positive behavior and to build self-confidence. In 2015 we will run 12 camps for different groups including: Asylum Seekers living in Community Detention, Refugees, Migrants, Indigenous groups and low-socio economic families.
With a 1:1 ratio, kids and volunteers come together to have fun, relax, learn from each other and the have the holiday experience all kids deserve. Visit our website www.ercvic.com.
