I am on a mission and I would like to ask you for your help!

As some of you may already know I recently spent some time working at an Orangutan rescue centre in Borneo. What struck me the most was just how little money these rescue centres are working with! They heavily rely on donations and I know from first hand experience how much difference these donations actually make! 

I'm taking part in the 2014 Melbourne Marathon Festival, doing the half marathon (21.1kms) for the first time (ahhh!) and hoping to raise some money for 'The Orangutan Project'. My goal is $1000. 

The money will be going toward releasing an Orangutan from a rescue centre, back into the wild where they belong!

There was an occasion when I was in Borneo and the rescue centre had to delay a release due to lack of funds. There was land secured- which is extremely rare and difficult to obtain, and the Orangutans were ready and waiting in quarantine cages.

It is heartbreaking to say the least watching these intelligent, beautiful and soulful animals awaiting release in their cages...Literally just waiting for extra donations from people like us. 

Coming back to my home and leaving all of the incredible individual personalities behind made reality hit,  that while I was back at my home and was happy- these Orangutans (who I believe were just as complex, social and intelligent as myself) were in their cages....Still waiting.

I will never stop helping them, because there is no other option.
