Melbourne Marathon White Ribbon
Story
I'm participating in the 10km Run of the Melbourne Marathon. This will be my first 10km Fun Run, and the second personal goal achieved for the year!
It would mean the world to me, and so many other women if you could spare any money for a donation to my chosen charity, White Ribbon.
"White Ribbon is Australia’s only national, male led campaign to end men’s violence against women.
The campaign works through primary prevention initiatives involving awareness raising and education, and programs with youth, schools, workplaces and across the broader community.
Globally, White Ribbon is the world’s largest male-led movement to end men’s violence against women. Originating in Canada in 1991, White Ribbon is now active in more than 60 countries"
Did you know that 1 australia woman is killed every week by her partner, or ex-partner? But yet, this statistic never makes headlines because we've become so accustomed to accepting 'domestic violence'. It has to stop.
One in three australian women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Look to your left, and then to your right... One of these women; perhaps your sister, mum, aunt, co-worker or friend will suffer physical abuse at the hands of someone close to them.
Please help support women in general, and this wonderful organisation and give what you can. Every dollar is greatly appreciated :)

White Ribbon Australia is a unique male-led primary prevention organisation that works to stop violence against women. All forms of violence are unacceptable. White Ribbon is working to prevent the most common and pervasive form of male violence – that towards women. White Ribbon believes the prevention of violence against women will change society for the better.
White Ribbon believes in the capacity of the individual to change and to encourage change in others. It believes that our generation can and must work towards stopping violence against women so that all women can live in safety, free from violence and abuse.
Through an annual awareness campaign and primary prevention initiatives, White Ribbon works to change the attitudes and behaviours that lead to violence against women.
