Story
Superman - Lex Luthor
Batman - Joker
Spiderman - Toby Maguire's Terrible Acting
Iron Man - Evil Army Guys
Aquaman - Those Plastic 6-Pack Holders/BP Oil
Fat Man - Running.
Every superhero has their arch-nemesis, or villain. Mine is running. I'm no superhero, but even though I hate it, I'm determined to do it for Edmund Rice Camps.
We're trying to raise $5000 as a team to fund a camp for Asylum Seeking Families living in community detention so they can attend an Edmund Rice Camp in March 2015.
Edmund Rice camps have been running camps and weekends away for vulnerable families and children for the past 33 years. The camps provide a fun filled week for those that need it the most.
However, these camps need money to run. So here's the part where I bleed you for your cash. Donate whatever you can, even if it's only a few coins.
Your donation will go directly towards funding this camp in March; towards food, accommodation, transport costs and activity costs. Camps are staffed entirely by volunteers, so you can rest easy knowing that your hard earned dollarydoos are going straight to where they're needed.
For more information/to look at a pretty website, please go to http://www.ercvic.com/index.php
As an incentive for myself to actually complete the run, and not just stop at a bar 50 metres in, I'll be donating $100 for every kilometre that I don't complete.
In the likely event that I collapse and require oxygen after the first couple of hundred metres, can somebody please call my mum?
Activity
Edmund Rice Camps Inc
Edmund Rice Camps is a not for profit charity based in Melbourne.
We connect young volunteers (or young at heart!), to kids and families living in disadvantaged situations. We use residential camps and recreational activities to create opportunities for role modeling positive behavior and to build self-confidence. In 2015 we will run 12 camps for different groups including: Asylum Seekers living in Community Detention, Refugees, Migrants, Indigenous groups and low-socio economic families.
With a 1:1 ratio, kids and volunteers come together to have fun, relax, learn from each other and the have the holiday experience all kids deserve. Visit our website www.ercvic.com.
